About Us
Co-Founders Mike Anderson and Brian Letzter formed HowToFund in 2015 after witnessing some of the challenges faced by teachers, principals, and administrators in today's schools. Mike, a marketing and finance professional, learned of a burned down building on a school campus in the South side of Chicago that had been sitting dormant for over two years, dilapidated. Brian, a military veteran, was inspired after handing out books to school children while serving in Iraq. He realized how important a role education plays in building a society, and how access to materials had a direct impact on student advancement. It is our belief at HowToFund that with the help of technology we can improve the learning environment for all students. We create products to support schools that are affordable and serve the interests of students, parents, administrators, and the community as a whole.
Michael Anderson
CEO & Co-Founder
Michael Anderson is President and Co-Founder of HowToFund. Over the past six years, Mike has led the Corporate Access function of an investment bank and served as the Head of Marketing for an Investor Relations consulting firm in downtown Chicago. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business, as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Finance and Management from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.
Brian Letzter
COO & Co-Founder
Brian Letzter, Vice President and Co-Founder, served more than three years in the United
States Army as a Cavalry Scout. He has served one tour overseas in Iraq and was honorably discharged from service in 2013 at the rank of Specialist. Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Entrepreneurship from Illinois State University. Brian approaches HowToFund as an opportunity to continue to serve others and apply his background in entrepreneurship.
Paul Haas
Risk Management Adviser
Paul Haas is a Producer at Lockton Companies, the world's largest privately held insurance brokerage firm. With more than 7+ years of insurance sales experience, he specializes in serving clients with complex risk management, insurance, and employee benefits matters. Paul serves as a Board Member and Advisor to HowToFund, assisting to expand client relations and advise on strategy. Paul holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.
Andrey Bocharov
Full Stack Developer
Andrey Bocharov joined HowToFund as a Tech Lead. With over ten years of experience in web-development, Andrey has spent the last six years creating high-traffic and data-intensive e-commerce platforms and web-applications. Before that, he started and ran a digital agency as a Founder and CTO. Andrey earned a Masters Degree in Network Engineering and is now pursuing an MBA.
Adam Smith
Technology Adviser
Adam Smith serves as an Adviser and Developer for HowToFund. Adam currently works as a Technical Consultant with a leading business and technology consulting firm in Chicago. Prior to that, he assisted in the successful launch of a B2B tech healthcare startup, and was solely responsible for directing development and delivery of all technology relating to the company's products. He graduated from DePauw University, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Economics and Business Administration.
